Work with file download August 7, 2010 ZacBit 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Find this to be a very good book. The instructions to download the practice files in the book are incorrect, but was able to do easily after a little looking at options that were available. Suggest making your own CD after downloading the files.
Good starting point for Office HS, presented in excellent way August 24, 2010 Luigi Zambetti (Milano (Italy)) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I don't give a vote so low for a book just because I'm having problems downloading the source files.
Starting from this page --[...]
it works correctly for me.
Indeed, I find that the quality of Microsoft Press books has improved a lot in recent years.
I really like the bi-colour black and blue font of the pages (maybe a TimesNewRoman font could be better), the binder very flexible and the excellent quality of the paper.
I have not found typos, and the various procedures step by step are accompanied by clear pictures and detailed explanations.
The teaching method of explain the concepts is excellent.
MS Step by Step Office Home and Student Great for Beginner to the Slightly Advanced September 4, 2010 Daisy S (Hot Springs, AR) First let me say that I am no begineer in computers or MS Office. Over the years I have used all previous to MS Office. However, that said, each time a new release of MS Office comes about, I upgrade to it. (I have upgraded from MS Home and Student Office 2007 to the new MS Office Home and Student 2010. And to get me up and running very quickly, I buy a couple of MS Office books. And each time I ALWAYS buy a MS Office Step by Step book that includes the practice files. And each time that I do, I am even more amazed with the book then the last time! The authors that write this book, I feel like I know them because they have authored other computer books that I have read in last several years. And I totally trust these authors. In this book each chapter is read and even though I do skip over the some of the info in the book that I already know, there are always new things that I learn from this book. Even though I am a more advanced person, whenever any software is upgraded, there are always changes and new things to learn. This is where this book comes in. Each chapter has just the right amount of information not too little, yet not too much to be overwhelming! So I must say that I 100% recommend this book to anyone who is either a beginner or a more advanced person who like myself wants to learn the new features in MS Office Home and Student 2010. This book has something for everyone.
Nice Resource For Office 2010 Home & Student August 18, 2010 Daniel McKinnon (Tewksbury, MA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
'Microsoft Office Home & Student 2010 Step by Step' is a nice addition to the Step by Step line of books. Covering Word (chapters 2-7), Excel (chapters 8-12), PowerPoint (chapters 13-17), and OneNote 2010 (chapters 18-20), you will discover how to do all the basics in no time at all. The writing is easy to follow, there is plenty of content at 600+ pages, and overall this is a nice resource to have.
My only major gripe with this book is the lack of color and some people have expressed problems with downloading the digital content. I recognize the issues but it's not enough for me to tell people to stay away. Microsoft puts out great quality products, and this is a ++++ one as well.
**** RECOMMENDED
Step by Step Office 2010 July 21, 2010 Naomi (Mississippi) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
The book is good, but the link for practice files does not open. After some searching, I found the Excel files. Lot of good that does me when it's primarily Word 2010 that I need to learn!
